Albufeira is a city located in the southern area of Portugal, in an area called Algarve. Although it is a city known for its historical old town, the Albufeira nightlife is vibrant. Blessed with weather that is near perfect year round, the city is a veritable tourist mecca.
To reach Albufeira by international flight, the nearest airport is Faro. By bus or train there are regular connections to and from Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city.
Albufeira, and all of Algarve for that matter, is famous for the fish and shellfish dishes, fantastic beaches, interesting architecture. There are numerous cafes and restaurants, all of which seem to offer menus comprised on mostly the local seafood dishes… and they are delicious. There are also a number of shops where visitors can buy souvenirs and clothing items.
Albufeira is too vibrant a city for visitors to become bored with. Visitors to Albufeira enjoy the sunny days relaxing on idyllic beaches, swimming in warm turquoise water, or boating. Evenings usually mean a few drinks at local bars with old or new friends or heading to one of the cities many discos.
Accommodations are plentiful, with both hotels and hostels meeting the budgets of every visitor. However, during the busy seasons the demand stretches supply, so make sure that you book in advance.
