Aruba is an island country of about 103,000 inhabitants located in the southern Caribbean Sea, and it’s capital city is Oranjestad. Aruba is located approximately 1,600 kilometers west of the main part of the Lesser Antilles and 29 kilometers north of the coast of Venezuela. It measures 32 kilometers long and 10 kilometers across at its widest point and has a land area of 179 km2.
Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao form a group referred to as the ABC islands, or as they’re more often called, the Dutch Caribbean. Aruba’s population is of Dutch nationality.
Unlike most of the Caribbean region, Aruba’s climate is arid. The arid climate means that other than near the white, sandy because where vegetation is lush and green, the landscape is mostly dry and cactus strewn. On the upside, it’s the dry climate that’s been the catalyst fueling the country’s tourism boom because vacationers can rely on the weather being warm and sunny.
