Hotels in Benin

Hotel in BeninBenin, officially the Republic of Benin, is a French speaking, West African nation. The capital of Benin is Porto-Novo, but the seat of government is in Cotonou, the country’s largest city and economic capital.

Benin is the birthplace of the vodun (or “voodoo”) religion. To this day Vodun remains the official religion of the country, and an important part of the life of ordinary Beninese.

Benin is also home to the former Dahomey Kingdom from circa 1600–1900. In Abomey, Dahomey’s former capital, the Historical Museum occupies two royal palaces with bas-reliefs recounting the kingdom’s past and a throne mounted on human skulls. To the north, Pendjari National Park offers safaris with elephants, hippos and lions.

Vagabond

Vagabond Travel came into being April 16, 2014 when I departed Canada heading for Mexico City. I have no destination in mind, nor an itinerary to follow. This is a sort of website, journal and travel blog all rolled into one. That's about it.
