Botswana has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert, which is 70% of its territory, and the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods. The massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve, with its fossilized river valleys and undulating grasslands, is home to numerous animals including giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.

With a population of just over 2 million people, Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. An estimated 10% of the population lives in the nation’s capital and largest city, Gaborone.

Botswana was formerly one of the poorest countries on the planet, but has since the 1960s has transformed itself into one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Tourists generally visit Gaborone due to the city having numerous activities for visitors, using it as a base to then experience Botswana’s natural beauty. Other popular destinations in Botswana are the Gaborone Yacht Club, the Kalahari Fishing Club, Gaborone Dam and natural attractions, such as the Mokolodi Nature Reserve.
