Hotels

hotel-iconFor the most part, hotels are not the first choice for a budget traveler. However, depending on the destination, and the location of the hotel within the destination city, hotels can be as affordable as a hostel, even more so.

Plus, budget travel is all about saving money, or getting value for the money spent. With this as the principle factor in selecting accommodations there are a lot of hotels that can be booked for a bargain. For example, 5 star hotels on off seasons will often offer insane deals for weekend stays. The reason is that there are few tourist seeking rooms during the off season and virtually no business travelers on weekend. So significant discounts can be realized just by checking in on Friday evening and checking out Monday morning.

Other deal can be had by offering to accommodate the hotel by offering to stay a week but change rooms repeatedly. Or even to check out and then return days later when there are again vacancies. It is a win win for the guest and the hotel. Rooms that may otherwise remain vacant are filled, and the guest receives a significant discount for being amicable enough to work around the hotel’s existing reservations.

Vagabond

Vagabond Travel came into being April 16, 2014 when I departed Canada heading for Mexico City. I have no destination in mind, nor an itinerary to follow. This is a sort of website, journal and travel blog all rolled into one. That's about it.
