Qutab Minar – A must visit place in Delhi

It is said that if you have not visited Qutab Minar, you have not seen Delhi.  What is it that makes this place so beautiful and a must-see, and why?  Qutab Minar is the tallest minar in India, rising to a height of 73 meters.  The 379 steps of the minar were constructed by Qutb-ud-din Aibak.  If you want to see the beauty and magnificence beautifully created out of marble and red sandstone, you should come to Qutab Minar.

There are many rich and heartfelt stories relating to the history of the medieval structures of Qutab Minar, and it will take visitors back into time immemorial.

If you love history, arts and culture and want to learn more about it, Qutab Minar will take you back into the distant past through it’s beautiful Arabic inscriptions, stone masonry and architecture.  UNESCO has classified Qutab Minar as a World Heritage Site and the rich and opulent style and manner in which the Mughals ruled is clearly seen from the style in which the structure has been erected. It has been built with creativity, artisan craftsmanship and beauty.  The Qutab Minar is a depiction of the wonderful Indo Islamic Afghan style of arts and architecture. The Mughals respected art and craftsmanship and they hired the best of these workers to complete this beautiful structure.

With lavish greenery and well manicured gardens, it is something that every tourist will love to visit and enjoy when coming to India, and more so when visiting Delhi for the first time.   Winter afternoons are wonderful to roam inside the Minar. There are five stories in the tower, and tourists will love to view the angular flutings on the 3rd story. The extended balconies of the Qutab Minar are truly spectacular to view and it enhances the beauty and lavishness of the place.

The annual festival of Qutab Minar is held during the months of November and December.
