Kabul, Afghanistan is no longer the tourist destination is once was, but believe it or not there are still world class hotels and restaurants in this often war torn city. The prevailing assumption I suppose is that some people have to visit Kabul on business or to connect with family, so have to have places to stay and eat. One such place is Serena Hotel Kabul, which offers guests an impressive selection of dining choices.
There are two restaurants, each of which offers a different style of local, regional or international cuisine, and a few options for something lighter…
The Café Zarnegar
Overlooking the landscaped gardens and central courtyard of the hotel, the relaxed and welcoming all-day Café Zarnegar offers Afghan, South East Asian, and International cuisines. Inspired by the depth and colour of traditional Afghani decorative work, the restaurant typically serves in lavish buffet style, breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating.
The Silk Route Restaurant
The lavishly presented Silk Route Restaurant is inspired by the legendary silks, brocades, jewels and spices of the ancient Silk Route. The Kabul Serena Hotel restaurant offers a fusion of traditional Afghan cuisine and contemporary South East Asian flavours, one of Kabul’s most memorable dining experiences. The Silk Route is open for dinner only (excluding Friday).
The Serena Pastry Shop
On the ground floor, our specialty Patisserie Shop offers a glorious selection of freshly baked breads, pastries, sandwiches, fresh juices, teas, and coffee.
The Char Chata Lounge
Presented in traditional Afghan style, the spacious and welcoming Char Chata Lounge makes the ideal meeting point, serving refreshments and light snacks whenever our guests desire them.
Overlooking the sapphire-blue water of our swimming pool, the Pool Bar offers seating and a wide range of cold drinks and easy-dining options.
