Slickrock Adventures

Slickrock AdventuresSlickrock Adventures Inc. is more than just a tour operator, but the Belize tour packages they offer are amazing, and definitely needed to be highlighted here on Vagabond Travel.

Cully Erdman founded Slickrock Adventures in 1977. Back then it was a small kayak school on the Colorado River. In the early 1980s he expanded to Belize, in Central America, after exploring the region while assisting with adventure television shows. In 1986, Lucy Wallingford joined on as a partner, and together they developed the four Belize itineraries that they offer today.

From simple beginnings, offering kayaking and camping tours along the Belize Barrier Reef, Slickrock Adventures has grown into a leader in adventure sport ecotourism in Belize. Slickrock Adventure pioneered the concept of using a multi-sport format to explore the most exciting destinations in Belize, which became the most distinctive, active tours available.

The company offers two all-inclusive Belize travel packages, the 9, 6, or 5 night “Adventure Island-Glover’s Reef” packages, and the 8 nights, “Belize Adventure Week”.

The “Adventure Island-Glover’s Reef”  is an island adventure, with kayaking trips at a private Belize island. Activities include, sea kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, kite surfing, windsurfing, kayak surfing, sport fishing, kayak fishing, paddle-boarding, and surfing.

The “Belize Adventure Week” is a combination jungle-island tour and Belize trip, and is one of, if not the best Belize adventure tour available. Activities include white-water kayaking on the Mopan River, underwater cave rafting and kayaking on the Caves Branch River, caving to Che Chem Ha pottery cave, and visiting the Mayan ruins at Tikal. There is an abundance of sea kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surfing, windsurfing, kayak surfing, sport fishing, kayak fishing, paddle-boarding, and surfing.

Vagabond Travel came into being April 16, 2014 when I departed Canada heading for Mexico City. I have no destination in mind, nor an itinerary to follow. This is a sort of website, journal and travel blog all rolled into one. That’s about it.
